UPDATE: State Police: 2 dead, 3 others hurt after a 5-vehicle crash on Route 250

BARBOUR COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV)-- UPDATE 09/12/19 @ 6:03 p.m.
Two people died and three were airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital after a five-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Barbour County, according to West Virginia State Police.

Two people died and three others were hurt in a four-vehicle crash Thursday in Barbour County.

Troopers say that the incident happened around 8:52 a.m.

Initial reports from Barbour County 911 officials indicated only four vehicles were involved.

One was a dump truck that flipped on its side, possibly hauling gravel. After crews reconstructed the scene, it took nearly two hours to clean up the debris and tow the vehicles away.

The road was closed for more than eight hours.

The cause is still being investigated. Names haven't been released. Corporal J.A. Rich of the Philippi Detachment is the investigating officer.

Route 250 has reopened to all traffic after a fatal vehicle accident Thursday morning.

The scene is clear and all vehicles involved in the crash have been towed.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. Thursday.

The crash happened right by the Corley United Methodist Church.

911 officials say that multiple agencies are on scene. West Virginia State Police will be investigating the wreck.
