An attempted child abduction from earlier in March turned out to be just a person doing a good deed.

St. Albans Police say the man who was seen on surveillance video earlier this month came forward, saying he was trying to give those children some used baseball equipment. After an investigation police say that story does check out.

According to police reports, one of the children told her father about the incident. They say the child made the right decision.

Kanawha County deputies are still investigating a similar case out of Cross Lanes.

Deputies say an 11-year-old boy escaped an attempted child abduction on March 13. It happened off Cross Lanes Drive when the boy was walking home from the bus stop.

He also told deputies that the driver was older with a dark-colored baseball cap and a brown chin strap style beard.

Deputies say the pickup they were in was a silver, two-door, extended cab pick-up truck.

No arrests have been made in that case.
