BUCKHANNON, W. Va. (WDTV) - Upshur County Schools swore in its new superintendent during the Board of Education's meeting on Tuesday.
Dr. Sara Stankus took her oath in front of a crowd of a dozen at Buckhannon Academy Elementary School. Also, incumbent members Katie Loudin, Kristi Wilkerson and Greenbrier Almond took their oath of office at the same time for another term.
Stankus is replacing Roy Wager, who retired this year. She says the transition from school principal to superintendent is going smooth. She also says that she's already working with the board and putting an emphasis on the upcoming levy.
"That's very important to find the things in our schools, so we'll be talking to to them about the things they want to see in our levy proposal so we're looking forward talking to our community," she said.
Stankus will officially begin her new role starting July 1st.
