CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WDTV) -- Details have been released for a special election to amend the state Constitution.

In an October 7 special election, West Virginians will vote on whether to enact the Roads to Prosperity Amendment, passed by state legislators on April 8th.

According to state officials, the amendment would authorize the Legislature to issue and sell state bonds for improving the construction of state roads.

The state Constitution requires that any amendment to it be submitted to voters for ratification or rejection in a special election.
