MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) -- The West Virginia University Board of Governors has begun the process to evaluate and renew the contract of President Gordon Gee.
Every 3 years, the university is required to evaluate the president. Officials with the BOG say that Gee has expressed interest in wanting to stay with the university, and say they are looking at extending his contract through the Spring 2021 semester.
"The board unanimously approved the establishment of a Presidential Contract Review committee to discuss the options available regarding the current contract," officials stated in a press release Friday. "The Board will divide responsibilities, with Vice Chair David Alvarez leading the evaluation process and Wilmoth the contract extension consideration."
The committees will give their reports at a meeting in Beckley this June.
