REPORT: WVU student in passes away after falling from rooftop

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) - UPDATE 1:11 PM:

According to the Twitter page for the Alpha Rho chapter of Kappa Alpha Order at West Virginia University, Sean Guthrie has passed away. The page shared a go fund me account set up to help with funeral expenses for Sean.

A vigil celebrating Sean Guthrie has been scheduled for Monday, October 17, at 8:00 p.m. at the Mountainlair Plaza.

Police have not confirmed to 5 News that Sean has passed away.

A West Virginia University student is in critical condition after falling from a fraternity house roof over the weekend.

West Virginia University Police Chief Bob Roberts confirmed to 5 News that Sean Guthrie of New Jersey fell approximately 20 feet off the gabled roofing on the Kappa Alpha house on North High Street.

Investigators said that the fall appears to have been a tragic accident.

Guthrie reportedly went out on the roof to smoke a cigarette and slipped when trying to get back into the home through a window.
