WVU Medicine kicks off 25th anniversary of 'Walk 100 Miles in 100 Days' program
Participants walked their first mile of the 100 day journey by walking around the WVU football field with Head Coach Neal Brown and the Mountaineer.
The 15 week walking program encourages people to walk at least one mile a day for exercise. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event.
Each year, the program has nearly 5,000 participants making it the largest exercise program in the state.
People can sign up individually or organize their own teams to help motivate each other and create a sustainable exercise program.
"People come through the winter and often are not engaged in physical activity because of the weather. This has become an annual event that people can look forward to doing to become physically active again and restart that exercise program," said Dave Harshbarger, the Wellness Manager for WVU Medicine.
The program will last until July 23.
