MORGANTOWN W.Va. (WDTV) -- The Monongalia County rape and domestic violence center held it's annual Walk a Mile in their Shoes event.

The mile-long walk around Morgantown's downtown area had dozens moving to raise awareness about sexual assault.

Among the supporters who came out were West Virginia University's Carruth Center and the Victim Assistance Program. The walk is happening in the middle of sexual assault awareness month.

Specialists at the center say the center hopes to focus on stopping sexual violence before it starts, but does offer a lot of help for survivors.

The center will walk again next April as well to continue raising awareness.
