Wanted man leads police on chase through Elk Creek

CLARKSBURG. W.Va. (WDTV)-- A wanted man led police on a foot chase that went through the Elk Creek in Clarksburg Wednesday afternoon, officials told 5 News.

Stephen Bray, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, had a federal arrest warrant for distribution of cocaine, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Bray was approached on E B Saunders Way by authorities before he ran and went into the creek, a spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals Service said. He eventually crossed the creek and ran toward Monticello Avenue where he was arrested, officials said.

Bray was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, a spokesperson for the Marshals Service said, where he is in stable condition. Following his release from the hospital, he'll be presented before a federal magistrate charge in Clarksburg.

Bray had a prior federal charge out of Pittsburgh, officials said. He was out on bond from a separate arrest in Harrison County, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The arrest was a combined effort between the U.S. Marshals Service, Harrison County Sherrif's Deputies, Clarksburg Police and West Virginia State Police.
