West Virginia Wesleyan College hosts Festival of Lessons and Carols

BUCKHANNON, W. Va. (WDTV) -- The West Virginia Wesleyan College kicked off the holiday season by having its annual Festival of Lessons and Carols on Dec.3.

This service is an annual tradition that brings together students and members of the community at Wesley Chapel. The service included scriptures read by leaders of the college and everyone got to sing along to carols performed by joint choirs that was led by director of choral activities R. Daniel Hughes.

At the end, everyone went outside to light the Christmas tree. Those who attended say this year's service was bigger than ever.

"We do it every year. This year it's definitely bigger because we had community choirs come in and participate," said Will Wasson, a student at the college. "It was really amazing. It gave the choirs more sound, that was really pretty."

The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a traditional Christmas service from England.
