BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV)- We are going to be reaching temperatures in the mid-90s this weekend! It is perfect summer weather and ideal to get outdoors, as long as you stay hydrated!
Nothing beats a hot summer day on the water, especially when you can get in on a friendly competition at the same time. Saturday, June 30 is the Bass Fishing Tournament at Palatine Park. Wet those lines, catch a winner and help support the Bunners Ridge Volunteer Fire Department. The fishing kicks off at 7 AM, continuing into the late afternoon.
If you need a break from the heat, grab your wallets and shop ‘til you drop at the Multi Family Yard Sale in Clarksburg/Bridgeport at Champs Central Gym. Get your hands on gently used goods ranging from clothing, toys and even household items and furniture. If shopping makes you hungry there is no need to worry, hot dogs and baked goods will be on hand. All proceeds benefit the All Stars Cheerleaders.
Sunday marks the start of a new month, and we are kicking July off with two Independence Day celebrations. The Shinnston streets will be buzzing all day long with beautiful tunes from the community band, followed by fun and a firework show at Ferguson Park.
More tunes and patriotism can be found in West Union. A piano concert will help locals celebrate our nation’s history. Michael Calhoun, a West Virginia native, will perform at the Emmanuel Methodist Church at 3 PM. Anyone is welcome.
If you attend any of these events, feel free to send pictures to WDTV 5 News on Facebook. We would love to see!
