Woman arrested after she was allegedly found in stranger's home holding knife

RANDOLPH COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV) -- A woman has been arrested after she allegedly broke into a home with a knife.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim told officers that he came into his residence on Adolph Road when he found a woman (later identified as 32-year-old Amanda Bennett) in the home holding a knife. He said he then left to retrieve a firearm from a different house, and when he came back she was in the shower with the knife.

The victim told officials that he and another person detained Bennett and were able to take the knife.

According to the complaint, Bennett told police that she entered the home through the bedroom window to look for an "expensive bracelet," that belonged to someone else. Bennett said she didn't realize that the home belonged to the victim.

Bennett was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to have happened before being found by the victim. She is charged with nighttime burglary.
