Black Bears Down Scrappers, 6-3 to Win First Game of Season

The Black Bears defeated Mahoning Valley, 6-3 to secure their first win of the 2019 New York-Penn League season. West Virginia improves to 1-1 overall.

Kyle Mottice and Dean Lockery had two hits each. Francis Del Orbe earned the win for West Virginia throwing 2.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Mike LoPresti logged the save tossing the final 1.1 innings scoreless.

West Virginia will be back in action on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at Williamsport. The Black Bears return to Monongalia County Ballpark on Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m. to open a three-game series against the Scrappers.
