Black Bears rally past Batavia late to win 3-2

GRANVILLE, W.VA (WDTV) - (Black Bears game release):

GRANVILLE, WV – The West Virginia Black Bears defeated the Batavia Muckdogs 3-2 Monday evening. Black Bears starter Scooter Hightower pitched a solid game going six innings with seven strike outs and only allowed two runs.

Tyler Curtis broke the shutout by hitting an RBI double in the top of the fourth inning. An RBI line drive by Samuel Castro gave Batavia a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning.

The Black Bears used a late eighth inning rally to win the ball game by scoring three runs. Dylan Busby knocked in a run by laying down a bunt and reached on a throwing error by Muckdogs’ third baseman Tyler Curtis. Tristan Gray tied the game with an RBI single to left field. Bligh Madris reached first on a fielder’s choice while Dylan Busby scored the winning run.

Beau Sulser came in the ninth inning and shut down the Muckdogs to record the Save. The Black Bears will take on the Muckdogs again tomorrow in the final game of their six-game home stand.
