BLUEFIELD, W.VA (WDTV) - (Includes comments from Fred Simon & Mookie Collier... interviews courtesy of WVVA):

Fairmont Senior is playing in the Super 6 for the second consecutive season. Bluefield, on the other hand, hasn't played their way to Wheeling since 2009. The Beavers are a perfect 13-0 and their closest game against an in-state opponent was last week's 23-point win over Bridgeport in the state semifinals.

In a highly anticipated semifinal matchup last Friday night, Bluefield pulled away from Bridgeport in the second half to win 37-14, securing a trip to Wheeling. A Beaver squad that isn't used to playing close games, scored four second half touchdowns. Bluefield was the first team to score 37 on Bridgeport in five years.

Fred Simon owns four state championships as the Bluefield head coach and he has coached in the Super 6 five more times. But seven years have passed since the Beavers played on Wheeling Island.

Just like the Polar Bears, Bluefield's senior class is very small with just five players. However the class of that class Mookie Collier is set to cap his brilliant career on the state's biggest stage. He has scored forty touchdowns and passed the two-thousand yard mark.
