No. 1 seed Bridgeport did not let the postponement of its game on Thursday affect their play on Friday as the Indians defeated the Tigers of Shady Spring, 9-2, in the semifinal game in Charleston on Friday morning.
The Tribe will play the winner of Scott and Frankfort in the AA state title game, which is slated for 8:45 p.m. on Saturday at Power Park.
After trailing 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, Bridgeport broke for 8 run in the frame to take a commanding 9-2 lead and took control of the game from there.
Tim Via was solid on the mound for the Indians, pitching a complete game allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six batters.
