Dante Bonamico became accustomed to winning in high school. The Bridgeport native won three straight state championships as a member of the Bridgeport football team from 2013-2015. He also captured the Carter Lee Award for the best defensive back in the state, and the Frank Loria Award for the best football player in West Virginia.
After redshirting with West Virginia in 2016 as a preferred walk-on, Bonamico played in just six games during his redshirt freshman season, but appeared in all 12 contests for the Mountaineers in 2018, making his mark on special teams.
As Bonamico enters year three on the playing field, and his first college coaching change with Coach Neal Brown, he reflects his high school years and fond memories with the Tribe.
