Paul Jones caught a six-yard touchown pass from Brian Novak with just over four minutes left in the gmae to lift Concord to a 20-17 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday at Cebe Ross Field.
Novak finished with three touchdown passes and 227 yards in the victory. Brandon Pyler was on the receiving end of two of those TD passes and ended the game with 53 yards receiving. Jones had seven receptions on the day for 30 yards.
Akil Bordelon had two interceptions for Concord, including one on WVWC's final drive. Justin Noble was in on six stops, including two for a loss with a sack.
Michael Anderson could not be slowed down on the ground for West Virginia Wesleyan rushing for 237 yards on 34 carries. Quarterback Ryan Deal was 15-of-29 for 118 yards with two touchdowns but also had two interceptions. Zach Schademan and Ian Waddell each had TD catches.
Keith Johnson Jr. had seven tackles (six solo), including one for a loss on defense for WVWC. Justin Forchio had five solo tackles for the Bobcats.
