After winning two state titles with Fairmont Senior and scoring over 1,000 career points, Polar Bear point guard Zyon Dobbs announced on Twitter on Tuesday night that he will play Division I hoops for James Madison University in Virginia.
"They said I was strong and physical and was able to shoot the mid-range really well, which fits with their offense," Dobbs said on what the JMU coaching staff liked about his game.
The Fairmont stand out went to visit and practice with the Dukes last week, and head coach Louis Rowe offered him a full scholarship after that. Dobbs loved the campus and after practicing with the team, he could said he could envision himself playing for JMU.
Dobbs averaged 16 points, 6 assists, and 5.5 rebounds during his senior campaign as the Polar Bears made their fourth straight state championship appearance. Dobbs, along with fellow seniors Jalen Bridges and Dasilas Jones, were named All-Tournament team after finishing as the AA state runner-up.
Dobbs also held Divion I offers from North Carolina A&T, University of Tennessee at Martin and IUPUI.
