(via MEC) - Fairmont State controlled the paint as it cruised to a 95-80 win over Wheeling Jesuit on Wednesday night at the McDonough Center.
The Fighting Falcons (7-2, 5-0) held a 58-36 advantage in the paint and out-rebounded Wheeling Jesuit (0-8, 0-5) by 15, including 17-8 on the offensive glass. Fairmont State also got 41 points off its bench on the night compared to just four points from non-starters for the Cardinals.
R.J. Hutcherson netted 19 points and had seven rebounds for Fairmont State. Vonte Montgomery added 18 points and a team-high nine rebounds, and Vince Franklin had 17 points and eight rebounds.
Wheeling Jesuit was led by Steve Cannady's 19 points. Jay Gentry scored 18 and Franck Kamgain added 14. Tariq Woody had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
