Coach Rick Haught set the bar pretty high in his first season as head coach of Ritchie County football in 2018. The Rebels went from 2-8 in 2017 to 7-3 in the regular season en route to snapping a four year playoff drought.
The Rebels return primarily all of their skill players aside from fullback Zach Cline and will look to replace three starting lineman. The duo of Garrett Owens and Tre Moss return in the backfield for the Rebels after both rushing for nearly 1,000 yards last year. Junior quarterback Dakota Wayne is recovering from an off-the-field injury but is slotted to be the starting quarterback. Freshman Ethan Haught is the backup and has gotten a lot of practice reps in fall camp.
Ritchie County begins its season against Tyler Consolidated on August 30 in Ellenboro.
