James Madison Transfer Dobbs Coming Home to Fairmont State
Fairmont Senior alum and James Madison transfer Zyon Dobbs is coming home after committing to Fairmont State.
"It's something obviously I've never been through," Dobbs said about being in the NCAA transfer portal. "It's a new experience and I hope I don't have to do it again."
Dobbs entered the NCAA transfer portal nearly three weeks ago after averaging just seven minutes of action with one point in 17 games for the Dukes as a freshman. But he believes his time in -- was not a waste of time.
"I got a lot stronger put on a lot of weight and I got quicker, so I just feel like a year of playing at Division I James Madison really helped me."
Fairmont State second year head man Tim Koenig played a major factor in his decision. He was one of the first coaches to reach out to him when he entered the portal, and maintained constant communication.
"If the head coach is calling me & wanting to talk for this long, I know its probably by best interest."
At Fairmont Senior, Dobbs was a three-time first team all state selection, averaging 17 points and six assists as a senior. He'll join former Polar Bear teammate Trey Washenitz and Syracuse transfer Brendan Paul in the maroon and white.
