Kevin Newman Thankful For Black Bear Beginning

Kevin Newman was drafted 19th overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2015, and became the first Pirate draftee to play for the West Virginia Black Bears in the club's inaugural season. Newman played in 38 games for the Bears.

Now, Newman is being used all over the field for the Pirates. He has played in 26 games for the Pirates this season, and boasts a .338 batting average with 23 hits and 7 RBIs.

Newman is just four years removed from the start of his professional career start in the Morgantown and he is thankful that his pro journey began at Mon County Ballpark.
