After a disappointing NBA draft night for Sagaba Konate, in which Konate did not hear his name called, the former WVU forward woke up to better news. According to the Athletic's Michal Scotto, Konate has inked a deal with the NBA Champion Toronto Raptors. Konate did not work out for the Raptors during the pre-draft process.
Konate will likely play for the Raptors in the NBA summer league, which begins on July 5 in Las Vegas. Konate, who is expected to sign an Exhibit 10 contract, will either have a chance to compete in Raptors training camp for a full fledged roster spot, sign a 2-way contract to play for Toronto and the Raptor's G League team, the Raptors 905, or be let go and become a free agent.
Konate played in just eight games for the Mountaineers this past season after dealing with a lingering knee injury. He leaves WVU as the program's all-time leading shot blocker with 191 blocked shots.
