Means Becomes First WVU Alum to Earn MLB All-Star Selection
WVU alum and Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher John Means has been named to the American League All-Star team and is the first Mountaineer to ever play in the Midsummer Classic. In his rookie season for the Orioles, Means is 7-4 overall with a 2.50 ERA and has struck out 64 batters in 75.2 innings pitched.
The left-hander pitched for the Mountaineers in 2013 and 2014 making 25 starts and compiled a 10-6 record with a 3.24 ERA. Means is the only Oriole selected to be an American League All-Star this season.
