Former West Virginia right-handed pitcher Kade Strowd was back at Mon County Ballpark on Friday, but this time to pitch as a member of the Baltimore Orioles organization with the Aberdeen Ironbirds of the New York Penn League.
Strowd closed out the final two innings of the game en route to a 4-1 victory for the IronBirds over the Black Bears. He allowed a run on 2 hits with 3 strike outs in just his third outing of his professional career.
The Black Bears won game one of the doubleheader earlier in the day, 3-1.
Kade was one of a record eight Mountaineers selected in the 2019 MLB Draft as he went in the 12th round to Baltimore. He left West Virginia after his junior season after going 5-6 in 22 starts with a 4.73 ERA as the Mountaineers Sunday starter in 2019.
