WVU Baseball Advances to Second Big 12 Championship in Four Years

WVU baseball defeated Texas Tech, 2-0 in the Big 12 semifinal elimination game to advance to its second conference championship game in four years.

The Mountaineers took the lead in the third inning as a sacrifice fly from Darius Hill scored Tyler Doanes to give WVU a 1-0 lead. Then, Marques Inman grounded into a double play in the sixth to score Brandon White to make it 2-0.

Freshman Ryan Bergert made his first career start for WVU and threw five scoreless innings with four strikeouts and allowed one hit. Freshman Zach Ottinger tossed four scoreless innings and struck out three while not allowing a hit.

WVU will play the winner of TCU and Oklahoma State on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
