WVU Cracks into Nation's Top 25

For the first time this season, Mountaineer baseball is ranked among the nation's best.

West Virginia ranks No. 20 in the D1 baseball rankings and No. 25 according to Baseball America.

This comes after the Mountaineer won three straight series against ranked competition in Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and most recently, Texas Tech this past weekend.

On Friday, the Mountaineers shut out the Red Raiders, 2-0, in a spectacular effort from ace Alek Manoah, who threw the first complete game of his career and struck out a career-high 15 batters while not allowing a walk. He was named Big 12 pitcher of the week for the second consecutive week for his efforts.
