WVU Hosts 2019 NCAA Rifle Championships

The NCAA Rifle Champion will be decided at the West Virginia Coliseum. The Mountaineers are hosting the school's first ever NCAA Championship in Morgantown this Friday and Saturday.

Three Mountaineers qualified for the eight-person individual smallbore finals. Sophomore David Koenders finished a team-best third with a 444.8 points, while Olympic gold medalist Ginny Thrasher shot 423.1 and finished fifth. Reigning NCAA smallbore champion, Morgan Phillips, shot 402.3 and placed seventh.

West Virginia currently sits in second place in the team standings although they are tied with TCU with 2331 points. The Horned Frogs hold the tiebreaker.

The 2019 NCAA Rifle Championships wrap up tomorrow with the air rifle event, beginning at 10:15 a.m.
