The Mountaineers are going global. West Virginia Basketball began practice on Wednesday for their 10 day overseas trip to Spain beginning on August 3. West Virginia will have 10 practices prior to the trip.
The Mountaineers will play three games against the top level teams in Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona while also having free time to take in the local sights.
"I think its a great opportunity for them to bond," Coach Bob Huggins said. "We've got a lot of new guys. The more time they spend together, the better that's going to be for us."
West Virginia has five newcomers for the upcoming season: Incoming 5 star center Oscare Tshiebwe and Ohio point guard Miles McBride from high school and JUCO transfers Sean McNeail, Ethan Richardson and Taz Sherman. Huggins said the last two and possibly a third player will likely not be able to travel to Spain because of school requirements.
