Margaret Elaine Sutton
Margaret Elaine Sutton, 73, of Jane Lew, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
Born in Clarksburg on December 17, 1950, Margaret was a daughter of the late Fred Williams and Betty Knicely Williams. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by two brothers: Herbert and Leonard Williams.
After graduating from South Harrison High School in 1969, Margaret briefly worked at Weston Meat Market, as well as Young & Stouts, before dedicating her life to being a homemaker. She married the love of her life, Ervin “Walter” Sutton, on February 21, 1970, and together they built a home filled with love, warmth, and the aroma of her famous cooking. Margaret had a knack for making her home a sanctuary and found joy in raising beautiful flower gardens. She was an avid reader of romance novels and a camping enthusiast, often spending time at Twin Lakes Campground. Her faith was a cornerstone in her life, and she attended Broad Run Baptist Church and formerly attended Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
Margaret was a woman of strength and grace, embodying the sentiment of Maya Angelou’s quote, “I work really hard to just focus on the joy of the work that I get to do and the impact that I know it has on the world.” This sense of joy, passion, and commitment was evident in the dedication and love she had for her family, her hobbies, and her faith.
Forever cherishing their memories of Margaret are her husband, Walter Sutton of Jane Lew; two children: Chris Sutton and fiancé, Miranda McClain, of Summersville, and Michelle Smith and husband, Bo, of Graham, NC; two grandchildren: Nathann Sutton and Emma Smith; two sisters: Carolyn Jones and husband, Fred, of McWhorter, and Lorraine Wiant and husband, Terry, of Morgantown; one sister-in-law, Patty Williams of Jane Lew; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
