Jordan Harrison signs WNBA player development deal with Portland Fire
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - After going undrafted in Monday’s WNBA Draft, guard Jordan Harrison finally got her shot in the league on Thursday, as she signed a deal to join the Portland Fire.
The former West Virginia women’s basketball star is filling one of two spots on the team’s player development pool.
This is a role where these extra players can practice, train, receive a stipend and gain experience with the team without counting against the franchise’s salary cap.
According to a release by the Portland Fire, this role allows Harrison to be activated for up to 12 games this upcoming season.
Portland is making its return as one of two expansion franchises for the WNBA in 2026, alongside the Toronto Tempo. The Fire previously competed in the WNBA from 2000-2002 but folded shortly after.
Harrison joins the Fire after a stellar senior season at WVU, where she won Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
She also led the Mountaineers to the Big 12 Tournament Championship, averaging 13.1 points, 5.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game.
